Hello and Welcome!

Woman sitting against a brick wall with her legs crossed wearing a green shirt, blue jeans and Nike sneakers. She is smiling and has her hands crossed over her knee.

I’m Rev. Dr. Lillian Lammers (she/her) and I am an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ - and third generation clergy after my mother and grandfather!

I have been a local church pastor, a divinity school administrator and adjunct faculty member, a hospital chaplain specializing in trauma and palliative medicine, and a student affairs administrator at several colleges and universities. My professional and theological interests include pastoral care, spiritual guidance and coaching, reconciliation, racial justice and inclusion, and encouraging individuals to use their theological imaginations to better connect with God.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Denver (2001), my Master of Science in College Student Personnel at the University of Tennessee (2004), my Master of Divinity at Vanderbilt Divinity School (2009) and my Doctor of Ministry at Andover Newton Theological School - now part of Yale Divinity School (2017). My doctoral project was focused on vocational discernment, a topic that I believe reemerges again and again throughout our lives if we are brave enough to listen to the ways God is calling us toward our work.

I am an open and affirming pastor and strive to work toward dismantling racism and systems of oppression as part of my ministry. I completed a national training in grassroots organizing and believe that when inspired and activated, people of faith are the most powerful and transformative force for good in this world.

In addition to my professional roles, I volunteer as a board member for several nonprofit organizations. I am lucky to be married to a wonderful spouse who helps folks fight cancer as an oncologist. Additionally, my favorite thing in the world is being mom to three very kind and exceedingly energetic little girls. My family lives in Memphis and you can usually find us enjoying popsicles at Crosstown Concourse, looking for animal babies at the Memphis Zoo, or getting soaked at the nearest splash pad!
